New discovery at Clifford Road Air Raid Shelter Museum

For several years I have had the privilege of being a volunteer at Clifford Road Air Raid Shelter Museum, located underneath the playground in one of three shelters constructed during WWII.

Until recently it was thought that two of the air raid shelters tunnels were filled in during playground resurfacing in 1965. Recent work on the schools playground has just revealed that one of them is structurally sound and that they were not filled in!

With much excitement and hard work from staff at the school the project has begun to preserve what was found and open up the tunnels to the public for guided tours.
Keen to help I have started this fundraiser and added pin badges from the museums gift shop to our website shop.

Alongside the current underground museum this amazing new discovery will be an historical treasure for the school for years to come, if properly preserved.
I hope you get a chance to visit this interesting museum when we reopen in the Spring 🙂

If you would like to donate to the museum’s new and exciting project please visit our fundraising page to find out more 🙂

Thank you for any donations!
